Art of getting up early in the morning
Getting up early for most of us has always been a frustrating hassle. It is something that we have no control over. We wake up when we wake up. Jab jaago tabhi savera, right? While back in school days, not getting up early worked, i mean we did not need to. And While in college, it didn’t work, but it didn’t matter as well, so yeah fuck it. But its high time now.
Getting up early has a lot of benefits, but i don’t want to go into the details of body metabolism and mind positivity. Instead, i’ll just stick to the time we get after laboring our asses in the 9 to 5 style that i do, that most of us do, that you do.
And getting up early doesn’t mean that you need to go on a run, or walk or work out or meditate. All of them will surely help no doubt, but you can do any other stuff in the world you want to do apart from consuming products you already feel bad about.
Why do you need to get up early?
Getting up early has way too many benefits. A lot of them you know already which include obvious points such as increased productivity through the day, elevated confidence level, healthy diet schedule and many more. But i am here to talk about time. Getting up early will get you more time FOR YOURSELF. Thats about it.
But wait getting yourself some extra time in itself is one of the few things that everybody wants. As a student, as an athlete, as an employee working on a strict schedule. EVerybody wants more time. So why not give it to ourselves.
Getting up early could also help you plan your day even better. Since you have had a sound sleep, you mind is stable and your body relaxed, you will make great judgments and plan everything better, because in you are clear in your head after getting up early.
What to do after getting up early?
Since there are lot of things, you could once you get up early, i am going to talk a few that are particularly of my interest. You might do something you like.
- Go out for a walk
- Listen to music
- Take a hot bath
- Work out, maybe
- Write a story or a poem or an article or anything, what matters is that you write
- Make todo list for the day
- Plan your day
- Think about your dream
- Explore places in the city
You don’t have to be influenced by the mentioned list, you don’t have be irritated by it either. These are the things i enjoy doing in the morning. This is the list that gives me joy. You might have something entirely different that gives you joy, and that is perfectly fine. Prepare the list, get up early and start doing them.
How can you get up early?
Step 1: Convince Yourself
You need to convince yourself that getting up early will actually benefit you. If you cannot think about its long term benefits, think just about the day, and how would it go if you wake up early. Once you have convinced yourself about how the next day could be great if you get up early, take shelter at your bed.
Step 2: Sleep Early
Getting up early might seem like a herculean task but it’s not actually. On the contrary, you would only want to get up early, once you get to see the beauty of it. The very first thing that you are required to do to get up early is sleep early. There is no way you can plan to wake up at 6 when you went to be 3. You might get up at times, but it wont help you.
Step 3: Don’t contemplate
One thing most of us do after going to bed is to think of our life and fret over the bad decisions we made, or things that went wrong. You need to get yourself out of the shell. It is not just keeping you from getting up early but it also occupies a part of your mind always, and it is not needed. Plan your next day, instead.
What changes you need to make in your routine?
Back in the senior year of my college, upon constant nagging of my parents, i tried to get up early. While most days went by without any effect, on some days however, i would get up at around 5-6 AM only find myself getting back to bed again 30-35 minutes later. This went on for quite a few months, and eventually i gave up the thought assuming i could be a night person.
Since I used to stay up late till 12, with some nights stretching up to 3 to 4 AM, with few even being spent sleepless. So, considering myself a nightowl made sense, and i accepted it, more importantly i got comfortable in the schedule.
But over time, i have realised that it doesn’t work that way. There’s only a limit till which your body can endure, and past it, you will see it get get bent, inch by inch, with every night passing. And this is not good, obviously.
So get up early, and maintain the clock, your body deserves.
